Tinnitus is the sense of experiencing a sound of buzzing, whistling, ringing, chirping, hissing, or other sounds in one’s ears. The noise may be continuous or intermittent, and its volume may vary. It’s generally worse when there’s little background noise, so you might notice it the most at night while you’re attempting to rest in a quiet room.
